Thanks
to you, 2011 was a great year for the Swannanoa Valley Museum. Over
2,000 visitors went through the museum from mid-April to the end of
October. We hosted almost 50 elementary-age classes from local schools.
We updated exhibits. We held 35 hiking and daycation events to high and
historic places. We continued to preserve the history of the Swannanoa
Valley through photographs, interviews, artifacts, documents, exhibits,
and programs.
We
are planning to do even more in 2012. Some of our favorite upcoming
projects include: offering more unique hikes and daycations, creating
hands-on lesson plans to better serve the children in our
community, renovating our older exhibits as well as developing new
exhibits, starting an exciting project to document the history of the
North Fork Watershed, and working to collect and preserve more
Swannanoa valley artifacts and stories.
As
2011 comes to a close, please consider the Swannanoa Valley Museum for
your tax-deductible donations. Any amount you can contribute will give
us a significant boost as we finish out the year and set our course for
2012. If this is possible for you, we would appreciate you remembering
the Swannanoa Valley Museum this holiday season.
Thanks
to the many members who have already donated to our end-of-year
fundraising campaign we are only a few hundred dollars short of our
goal! And now donating is easier than ever with our online donation
center.
