Civil War Living History Weekend

“Swannanoa Gap 1865—The Final Days”

 

April 26-27th, 2008
Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

On the ball field of Black Mountain Primary School
Black Mountain, NC

Come observe and experience the sights and sounds of the 1860s
in a unique historical presentation, including:

Encampment complete with period camp life
Infantry—Artillery—Cavalry—Medical
Presentations and Demonstrations throughout both days
Living History, Music, and Plays
Dress ball Saturday night at 7 p.m.
 (Dancers must be in period dress.  Observers welcome.)
Skirmish each day at 1 p.m. reenacts the skirmish that took place nearby
 in April, 1865,  now known as the Battle of Swannanoa Gap
.

Sutlers will be participating, offering period clothing and accessories for men and women, blacksmithing demonstrations and sales of handcrafted products, and handmade items for Civil War reenactors.  Food will be available for sale, including period and contemporary dishes, kettle corn and fresh lemonade.

Parking is available in a nearby vacant lot east of the school.
Admission:  $3 for adults; children under 12 free.
